Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Haji Awang Nazmi bin Haji Awang Mohamad was appointed as Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, Brunei Darussalam on 7 of Zulhijjah, 1443 / 7 of June, 2022.
On 15 of July, 2022, in conjunction with the 76th birthday of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, Yang Berhormat Dato was awarded the Darjah Setia Negara
Brunei Yang Amat Bahagia First Class (P.S.N.B.) Decoration, which carries the title 'Dato Seri Setia'.

Yang Berhormat Menteri began his service with government of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam after graduating from University Brunei Darussalam in 1991.
He is married to Yang Mulia Datin Hajah Bainun binti Haji Bungsu and was blessed with five children: three sons and two daughters.
